Introduction to the BNBU London Centre
Preamble
In order to advance international engagement across teaching and research, talent recruitment, alumni relations and cultural exchange, particularly by fostering interactions and exchanges with the London-centric area of the United Kingdom, Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) proposes the establishment of a “BNBU London Centre” in London.
Functions of the BNBU London Centre
1. Following the successful model of the BNBU Boston Centre, established one year ago near Harvard University in the United States, the London Centre will serve as a bridge and hub for academic, research, industry, and talent exchanges between BNBU, its parent universities, and the United Kingdom.
2. As a non-profit organization, the Centre's primary objectives include enhancing academic collaboration and talent partnerships, promoting Sino-UK cultural exchanges, and connecting students and scholars from BNBU, Hong Kong Baptist University, and Beijing Normal University. The establishment of the BNBU London Centre will further elevate the visibility and influence of BNBU within the UK's higher education community, strengthening international cooperation and enhancing its external social and public image.
3. The London Centre plans to set up 3 centres, namely Centre for Mathematics and Statistics, Centre for Cultural Heritage and Global Communication, and Centre for Business and Economics.
4. The United Kingdom is a popular destination for graduates from BNBU to pursue further studies. Every year, 700-800 students from BNBU study in the United Kingdom, with about 400 of them studying in London. The establishment of London Centre will provide academic and career support to connect alumni closely.
5. A notable feature of the BNBU London Centre is its Experiential Study Tour, during which both undergraduate and postgraduate students will study and explore in London. Through participation in seminars, city explorations, and academic activities, students will gain profound insights into British culture and acquire a multifaceted understanding of the history and civilization of the United Kingdom.
The Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony of the BNBU London Centre is scheduled for 22 January 2026. With the establishment of these two overseas centres, we believe that BNBU will significantly expand its engagement in global academic and cultural exchanges, thereby enhancing its international reputation and recognition.
